Welcome

Miguel Olivas is a seventh generation Tucsonan whose family originally settled in The Old Presidio during 1775. Miguel’s father, the late Henry Olivas worked as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic in Arizona’s copper mines and his mother, Lupe Olivas is a retired TUSD schoolteacher. He is the youngest of seven children. His parents, siblings and his large extended family taught him the value of hard work and the importance of service to community and country.

Early in Miguel’s life, the Olivas family moved to Morenci, Arizona where Miguel completed elementary and high school. A graduate of both Arizona State University and the University of Arizona, Miguel earned Bachelor’s degrees in Justice Studies and Public Policy and Advocacy. Additionally, he has earned a Master of Business Administration.

Miguel’s passion for public service began as an advisor to Members of Arizona’s Congressional delegation. For more than a decade he directly advised Congressmen on issues related to international trade and commerce, Small Business Administration, Native American Affairs, agriculture, Department of Justice, mining, water, immigration, housing, community and economic development, and Department of Interior.

In 2004, Miguel’s entrepreneurial spirit drove him to use his public sector experience and launched a successful small business. Miguel assisted other businesses to optimize organizational growth and increase shareholder value. He drove performance in the areas of international affairs, finance, marketing, and operations with a strong emphasis in compliance and government service. Today, Miguel is the principal behind The Olivas Group where he trains executive teams to develop political capital by becoming an essential participant in the political process.

Throughout his professional experience, Miguel remained committed to Arizona. His family is well rooted in the state where Miguel is raising the next generation of his family. His vision for the 1st Congressional District is to empower and strengthen families by re-creating industrialization to secure a strong economy; strengthen our labor force; ensure children have access to a quality education; secure borders; honor our commitment to veterans; and protect the interest of seniors. Miguel asks for your support in putting copper, cattle, cotton, citrus, climate and most importantly Arizonans back in the economy.
